Module Description

This module provides SLP’s with a range of evidence-based interventions for concussion or mild traumatic brain injury as well as other forms of acquired brain injury with a focus on managing persisting cognitive-communication deficits and co-occurring symptoms. The course is designed to assist SLP’s with education, collaboration, and provision of individually tailored and contextual or “life relevant” treatment.

Audience
SLP’s/SLT’s who work with individuals with acquired brain injuries in all settings (acute to community) interested in cognitive and communication interventions. Focus is on adults and adolescents with some pediatric resources provided.

Learning Outcomes
As a result of this module the participant will be able to: 

  1. Apply a range of evidence-based interventions for subtle cognitive-communication deficits that persist after concussion, mTBI, or other forms of acquired brain injury. 
  2. Summarize evidence for mild brain injury treatments and practice guidelines. 
  3. Design individually tailored interventions for those with cognitive-communication deficits with consideration of the multifactorial influences on functioning in the recovery process.

Module Completion Requirements
To complete the module and receive a certificate the learner is required to complete the following: 100% of the module video, a pre-test, a post-test with 80% accuracy on 10 multiple-choice questions (may be taken multiple times), a pre-/post-confidence assessment with 3 confidence ratings, and a brief module evaluation. A clinician's self-evaluation checklist is also provided for your ongoing learning.
